Inking and rough line art of commission

Sorry but not sorry about the amount of inking I'm posting, it's just sooo much fun! For this one I wanted to play around with shapes and drawing characters that look different from one another, and I think I managed that :)

aaaand here's a hella rough outline of the front cover of the album that I've been commissioned to do. One word: Jesters
After a lot of different compositions this was the favoured one.

Twice As Nice

Another late night inking. I can't help it, it's so therapeutic! A double headed witch. To every good there is an evil... or something like that. I just wanted to try something different.
Also some fun news: I got another commission, I just gotta wait on some more details but what I can say is that it's an album cover for a local band. It's gonna be fun!

That face tho

A night time doodle I did after I finished work. I just had the itch to put pen to paper. I had some wigspiration from @wigsandgrace on instagram again. She's so pretty, I wish I had freckles.

Gnarly

Just added some ink and colour to a pencil sketch to pass the time before going to work, hella random drawings. Enjoy!

Stick that hip out

I did a little inking (with some watercolour) this morning. This whole drawing is based on an awesome dress I saw on +ASOS that I wish I could pull off. I tried to do some shading and it went a bit wrong at first but somehow I managed to make it work and I am really pleased with it.

Ink Doodling

Some late night inking. I found an awesome wig on instagram by @wigsandgrace and did a whole drawing around it. Cutting the arms off is a great way to avoid drawing hands.

Still feelin' those Halloween vibes

Here's some sketches and doodles I did today, just a random bunch of scribbles to move pencil on paper. I used some references for practice and I'm pretty pleased with it :)

Vampire

Halloween is near! And here's a badass vampire which I also submitted to the CDChallenge. She's resting from feeding. I'm really happy with this since it's such an improvement on the first original sketch. I know she's got a ton of tattoos but when I drew one I couldn't stop! It was so much fun :D

Doodlin' At Work

Some doodling I did last night at work, literally just random drawings to occupy the mind and pass the time :)

Commission - Guitar Man Finished!

So after conversing with my colleague he liked the design of number two from my sketches, which can be seen in my previous post. So after cleaning it up and colouring it in, here is the line art and the finished version. Also check out my colleagues guitar school where the image now lives :)

First Commission ohmygawd!

Quite an exciting time, I got my first commission work today! A colleague wanted a drawn cartoon version of himself for his guitar school. Here's a few sketched designs I did for him.

Vamp Re-Draw

Looking through some of my old sketches gave me a boost of inspiration. I found a sketch of a sassy, angry lady sat crossed legged on a chair smoking a cigarette. I thought the sketch looked a little stiff and needed a bit more emotion or just something so I decided to re draw it.

The original sketch:

The work in progress so far:

Yeah, I thought just drawing it would be enough, but no. I had to colour it. And make her vampire. And give her horns. Since I seem to be into that right now. And with Halloween around the corner it's perfect timing. I've relaxed her pose (I hope) and in my opinion it does look far less stiff than the original. I know you can't tell fully because it's cropped but I will unveil her true beauty when I've finished :)

Goat Gurl - I need to draw more dudes

A little sketch I've been working on the past few days to occupy the brain. I wasn't planning on making her half goat but I blinked and the ears were there. Pretty pleased with this one, not gonna lie. And on my list of many drawings I wanna colour in Photoshop.

Old Sketchbook Sketches!

I was bored to today on my day off so I decided to look through my old sketchbooks and maybe spark up some inspiration, who know! Anyway, I thought I'd post some things I didn't think were too bad.

This one, if I remember right, was me procrastinating instead of doing uni work. I drew these from photos I found on Tumblr but changed a few things. Spot the Norman Reedus.

This sketch is supposed to be sisters, and I tried to draw each one with a different personality. I hope that shows. I would also like to work on this a bit more, maybe an animation of some kind? If time is kind :)

Elf Gurl

This elf girl started as a daydream while I was at work. The doodle I did at work is the blank ink drawing which I expanded on a bit more and added some facial expressions. In my head she's a lone winter elf warrior that lives in a quaint little snowy mountain cave.

Portrait doodle brainstorms

Since my previous post I've had it my head that I wanna do another alien/demon portrait so I did some truly messy sketches to brainstorm some ideas.

Sunday 4 September 2016

Alien Demon FIN

So I've finished redoing my old alien/demon portrait and I am SO happy with how it turned out! Seeing the change from a few years ago and now, it's inspiring. I didn't think I could digitally paint like this and if I could it would take me a long time to figure it out. I've still got a lot to learn and I'm excited to learn it, but right now I'm pretty happy. :D

Now I just gotta give her a name....

Alien/Demon ReDo

I've been seeing a lot of artists redoing some of their old work and it inspired me to do the same. So I looked through all my old drawings and decided to re-draw an alien/demon portrait I did a few years ago. I wanted to add some personality and life to it. So far this is the rough sketch of it. I've included the old drawing for easy comparison. I gotta say, at the moment I'm pretty happy with it. :)

Gimme my own beach

All this nice weather we've been recently having put me in the mood to do a Summer doodle. It just made me want my own beach.

So Pink - Finished

I finally finished it! This was a practice in trying to paint a different way. I learnt a lot and it was a lot of fun! Painting the hair was a slight pain but overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out. :)

And a close up so you can savour the detail ;)

Wednesday 10 August 2016

So Pink, work in progress

I recently purchased Loish's artbook and got inspired to try a style of digital painting that I'm not used to. So far it's been a lot of fun and I'm learning so much! I hella recommend buying her book!

Here is a close up of it so far, I think I'm gonna call it So Pink. It seems relevant.

Monday 8 August 2016

Using colouring pencils again :)

While watching the olympics I decided to do some quick animal sketches, I could have drawn the athletes but that would've been a tad predictable right? ;)

Thursday 4 August 2016

Whipped out the colouring pencils

I wanted to doodle but I didn't wanna use a pencil so the next big thing? Colouring pencils! It's a really random sketch but I just wanted to draw. Also check out my instagram! :)

Doodles

Just a few hella random doodles I did yesterday, boredom is a curious thing...

Sneaky...

On my days off I have managed to improve on the sketches from the last post and made a little animation. I haven't done any animating in a while so it was nice to get back into it, even if it is just a few frames, but it was fun!  Hope you enjoy looking at it :)

So anyway, the inspiration is (long story short): just because the customer no longer wants it, doesn't mean you can eat it.

De-Stressing

So, it's been a long time since I've posted anything and the reason is uni is now finished and in a few words I've been de-stressing but now that's over here's a few little sketches that I wanna turn into a mini animation. It's based on a funny story I heard at work.

Sunday 28 February 2016

Stair Walk

I've volunteered my help to another film and it would be good for me to draw in another style for a bit. The shot I was given was the main character walking up the stairs. It doesn't look completely smooth because the directors are going for less frames on extreme animation and more frames on subtle animation.

Run Cycle

I've been doing a bunch of layouts and keyframes that will eventually be given to the crew to inbetween. It has been long days but it's all worth it to see the green increasing on the production schedule.

So here's a run cycle for one of the Sweet Tooth characters.

Friday 12 February 2016

Dragged

A Sweet Tooth shot that I've keyframed and inbetweened, this was a fun one to do.

Wednesday 27 January 2016

Slo Mo

Here's a little something I've keyframed and inbetweened.  :)

Dissertation = No Life

All work and no play makes for zero blog posts. The reason be dissertation. Sorry for the lack of posts, but I have been eating, sleeping and breathing my dissertation for weeks. But no more as I handed it in on the 14th, the day before deadline!

It was not hard to say goodbye.

So from now on, be prepared for cake.
